At fourteen, Catrina MacGreagor was left to care for her nine siblings after her mother passed. She didn't truly mind, for she loved them all dearly, but the work was hard as well as boring, and it left her little time to consider a husband. It was just as well, for she had not yet seen a lad she truly favored.

My apologies, this was so disappointing!! I have read a lot of books in this genre and this just surpasses the first novel, 'The Viking' as the worst I have come across.
Using the term 'Viking' is a sure way to snare the unsuspecting reader, as I now realise, having purchased the 2 novels from Kindle at the same time. You expect a lot more and feel totally let down. I do not usually bother to review my re, but I feel it is necessary to prevent other readers making the same mistake! I would describe this novel as a Dark Ages version of 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', the only thing missing is the characters suddenly bursting into song!
This bookis a companion to 'Viking' by the same author. I was expecting typical Viking behaviour. However, both these books fall into the romance category.
Both are good re and I have passed them to my wife. I did read them both to the end and did enjoy them. One person found this helpful. I loved this, the latest in the storyline, the author never uses 'intimate' details to 'fill in' and that is why I love the author's work so much. The character's are all so rich and interesting and I look forward to the next book to see what they are all up to in their lives, as right from the prequel I have been hooked.

I thoroughly recommend this series as I found it a completely compelling tale. Although this book is aimed at younger readers than myself, i found it quite a good read.
Not too heavy going but reasonably interesting. I can see how it would appeal to the younger reader.
Definitely enjoyable. Report abuse.
This story ticks all the boxes: romance, love of family, clan loyalty and love of country. And that's before mentioning the great characterisation and humour. See all reviews. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations. View or edit your browsing history.
